Day 29: Friday, August 6, 2010
A 6 pm call to Ross Playfield means another all-night shoot. We’re on a playground, where Jason (as Phil) emotionally regresses – you’ll see what I mean in the film.
The prop master rakes sand beneath Jason who’s swinging higher and higher. Nearby, a small girl digs – that is, until our locations intern asks her to kindly get out of the shot. The girl must wonder why the big man gets the royal treatment while she’s not even allowed to build a sand castle.
Jason should’ve said, “Believe me, honey. It’s not as glamorous as it looks,” but he was too focused on the intimate moment in the scene.
A couple more shots of Jason making phone calls on the monorail last late into the night, then the Grassroots clan is off to Jose Rizal Park.. Three photo doubles, standing in for DC Pierson, Joe Mandragona, and Michael Nardelli, jump out of a car to pound campaign signs into the ground.
Extras driving cars between the camera and the doubles’ car play “Don’t hit the actors! Don’t hit the cameramen!” Proper safety precautions are observed and everyone emerges unscathed on this, our last night shoot.
Hi, Sara…
I am sad to see the end of filming but so happy that I was a small part of this movie. Meeting you, Tony, Raquel, Sebastian, etc. (and last but not least, Stephen Gyllenhaal) has really made me want to pursue an acting career! This whole movie thing is waaaaay cooler than I could have ever imagined. Thanks to ALL of you who made July 2010 a life-changing experience
Sincerely,
Meli Alexander
Thank you, Meli! You are fantastic. I wish you all the best.
