Cobie Smulders

If you’re a hardcore How I Met Your Mother fan as I am, then you definitely tuned in last night for the highly anticipated third return of Robin’s teenage Canadian 90s pop starlet alter ego, Robin Sparkles (Played by GRASSROOTS’ own, Cobie Smulders).  The episode began with Barney finding a copy of Space Teens, the Canadian educational show where Robin and her co-star/ BFF Jessica Glitter (Played brilliantly by Nicole Scherzinger) solved space mysteries by using the power of math! Unfortunately, the tape is not only embarrassing, but is also filled with dirty double entendres that Robin hadn’t noticed until the others were rolling on the floor laughing at her and Jessica jumping up and down in slow motion. Poor Robin! This has happened to a lot of us though, I remember blowing the dust off my Spice Girl’s CD a few years ago, gave it a listen and thought, this can’t be right. Was I really dancing around in my room at ten years old singing “When 2 Become 1, I need some lovin’ like I’ve never needed love before, wanna make love to ya baby…”

What??!

Were my parents aware of this? I should write letters, how horrible! Well, it couldn’t have been that horrible, definitely didn’t stop me from going to the Spice Girls reunion tour when I was 21… twice.

What was your “ah-ha!” moment of when you realized that your seemingly wholesome favorite pop song or TV show from your childhood was actually kind of dirty?

Aside from the pervy jokes, there must be files and files of on going Canadian Jokes in the HIMYM writer’s room. From the beaver song, to Alan Thick’s cameo there’s nothing more American then picking on the Canadians.

This makes me just adore Cobie. Not only is she beautiful, (Speaking of which, have you seen her on the cover of Maxim? Holy hell girl! She’s “Smuldering!” … See what I did there? Eh?)

But like I was saying, she’s not only beautiful, but she can take a joke and run with it. HIMYM is in their 6^th season and I don’t see the Canadian jokes running out anytime soon.
