Joel David Moore plays Grant Cogswell, the eccentric, passionate, monorail-obsessed idealist running for Seattle City Council in GRASSROOTS.

In the few short years since he began acting for film and television, Moore has put together an amazing resume. From his quirky recurring roles on popular television shows like BONES, MEDIUM and HOUSE M.D., to his engaging turn as anthropologist Dr. Norm Spellman in James Cameron’s genre-defining blockbuster AVATAR, Moore has made a name for himself as an actor with rare presence.

The Portland, Oregon native is classically trained, with a BFA in performance arts and a stint as a company player at the renowned Oregon Shakespeare Festival in Ashland. His versatility allows him to create uniquely memorable characters in everything from the broadest comedies (DODGEBALL) to the white-knuckled independent thriller SPIRAL, which he co-wrote and co-directed.

In addition to his extensive experience in front of the camera, Moore is also an accomplished filmmaker. His directing credits include two short films, MILES FROM HOME and BYRON PHILLIPS: FOUND.
